Apple and Samsung swap LG smartphones for their new flagships: Vacant market share

After LG announced its withdrawal from the smartphone market, competitors began to lure its users over to their side. In particular, this applies to Apple and Samsung.

What do they offer?

Thus, the market giants have launched a trade-in in South Korea with favorable conditions: the owners of LG smartphones are offered to exchange their ” pipes ” for the new flagships of Apple and Samsung. The companies are offering to pay for the phones, as well as an additional 150,000 won, or roughly $ 135 .

They accept LG models with 4G and 5G support , which can be exchanged for iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Mini, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Flip 5G or Galaxy Z Fold 2. Samsung program will run until the end of June, Apple – until September 25.

Of course, this is only about South Korea, but nevertheless, it means that Apple and Samsung are trying to take the market share that was freed up after the departure of LG. For example, in , Apple in 2020 Samsung held 65% market share of smartphones in South Korea – 20%, and LG controlled 13%. Perhaps, in the future, similar programs will be launched in other countries.
