The Apple TV 4K set-top box was introduced back in 2017, and so far it has not had a successor. And finally this day has come: At today’s event, Apple announced the new Apple TV 4K model.
Externally, the new console is similar to the old one, but the preservation of the design and name does not mean that there are no changes at all. The device is based on the A12 Bionic processor, which provides a significant increase in the performance of graphics, video decoding and audio processing.
Announced support for HDR and Dolby Vision with a frame rate of 60 frames per second. With high frame rate support in AirPlay, videos shot on the iPhone 12 Pro can be displayed in Dolby Vision at 60 frames per second on the new Apple TV 4K.
In addition, the set-top box is equipped with a completely new Siri Remote with a round touch panel for more convenient control, a power button that did not exist before, and a key for mute. Of course, the support for the Siri voice assistant has not gone away.
Apple TV 4K Price
The Apple TV 4K set-top box was priced at $179. There is also a regular version of Apple TV HD without 4K for $149. The remote will have to be purchased separately for $59, but it will also be compatible with older models. Sales will start in mid-May, and pre-order will be available from April 30.
