Google Pixel 5a will only appear in a few countries: Google Confirms

Just yesterday, reports surfaced that Google should have canceled the Pixel 5a without replacement. Now the search engine company has spoken out and denied the rumors. The 5G model should be published in 2021 – but only in a few countries.

According to the online magazine 9to5google, Google has confirmed that the Google Pixel 5a 5G actually exists. The company is currently not planning to discontinue the smartphone.

The statement also indicates that the device will be available later this year. The new model will initially only appear in the USA and Japan.

Delivery difficulties cause problems

Difficulties in the global supply chain are responsible for this. Due to the current shortage of chips, the Pixel 5a cannot be manufactured in large numbers, so that Google can only offer the smartphone in certain regions.

It is possible that the Pixel 5a 5G will also be sold in other countries at a later date.

When exactly the release will take place is currently quite unclear. Originally, the Pixel 5a was supposed to be shown at Google I / O in May.

However, the statement by the search engine company suggests that the smartphone will only be presented in the second half of the year. The Google Pixel 6 could also be launched at the same time. A Pixel Watch and new Pixel Buds are also expected.

Which components are used in the Google Pixel 5a remain open? Leaked CAD files indicate a 6.2-inch OLED display with FHD + resolution. A fingerprint sensor, two main cameras, and a headphone jack are also on board.
