Huawei has filed a patent for a smartphone with a selfie camera built into the display.

Currently ZTE is the only manufacturer offering a smartphone with a selfie camera hidden under the display, and its second iteration is set to arrive fairly soon. We believe that Samsung Galaxy Fold3 will adopt the technology, Oppo is also working on a solution, and after patenting a smartphone with UPC Huawei will join them.

The official documentation included graphics that were utilized to generate renderings of the phone by the team at LetsGoDigital.

The picture shows that this phone is probably a midranger. With its camera island and overall design, it looks a lot like the Honor X20 SE, but patent drawings aren’t obliged to reflect real forthcoming devices, so it might be something completely different.

It’s no surprise as China is currently the only big market in smartphone of Huawei. The patent has been submitted with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).
