The rumor mill has long heard that Apple is planning a new iPad Pro and iPad mini for April. Now several mockups have been shown that are supposed to represent the new models – this indicates that Apple is sticking to the previous design.
This emerges from a new leak from Sonny Dickson. Dickson revealed pictures of the dummy versions of the upcoming 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models as well as a revised iPad mini 6 on Twitter.
Nothing has been said about the origin of the dummies, but Dickson is right has a good hit rate on previous leaks, the new images are considered a trustworthy source.
Such dummies are usually based on CAD schemes that are created for Chinese manufacturing companies. Therefore, a lot of advanced information comes from the circles of accessory manufacturers who need to know about the appearance and dimensions of new devices at an early stage.
So far it has been said that Apple will release the 2021 versions of the iPad mini and iPad Pro models in the first half of this year, presumably in April. However, Apple has not yet given any hints in this direction.
The design has hardly changed
Interesting in the pictures: You can hardly see the revisions from the outside. This is particularly noticeable with the iPad mini, where the design has hardly changed compared to its predecessor. The home button remains the same as the fairly wide border.
This fits in with the previous rumors, which, among others, the Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had fueled again and again. It says that the new iPad mini should be 8.5 to 9 inches in size, larger than the fifth generation.
That being said, Kuo believes Apple is working on a new iPad mini with a mini LED display. In the case of the iPad Pro dummies, the new models seem to have the same dual-lens camera system with LiDAR scanner as already known.
Outwardly, they are quite similar. However, the camera hump in the picture seems to be less prominent on the 12.9-inch model than on the 11-inch model.
