OnePlus 7 Pro’s 3X Zoom Camera samples appeared

OnePlus 7 Pro Camera Sample: OnePlus 7 Pro launch event will be held on May 14, as far the most expensive oneplus phone. Company’s strategies for this year is to split its flagship line into two. First 6t’s successor, the Oneplus 7 with some improvements, as usual. Second, the Pro version of OnePlus 7, which will have a triple rear camera setup and an award-winning display.

One of the three shooters is a 3x zoom telephoto lens, and the Wired’s folks somehow got their hands on a “near final” pre-production model and captured several snapshots to make the world know that OnePlus has really enhanced the camera of the device or something similar.

Surprisingly, fans of OnePlus asked the company to replace the useless secondary rear camera in the 6 and 6T with a zoom lens and they have heard it – or at least it was done for the 7 Pro.

The camera interface obviously has nothing to do with the 6T, but there are useful hints about when the lens should be switched and you can increase the zoom up to 10x with digital zoom still being on board. Fortunately, there is no “AI” scene detection.

In terms of quality, Wired said that the details of the OnePlus 7 Pro zoomed the image, the noise and midtone contrast is slightly lower than the 5x zoom image taken with the Huawei P30 Pro. You can also shoot videos with a zoom lens that will “stabilize” to some extent and look “quite good.”

Simon Liu, Director of Imaging at OnePlus, believes that 7 Pro is “a shot at competing with the first tier phones” in terms of camera image quality. He continued: “I don’t think we can beat them, but the imaging world is always subjective.”

This report confirms that OnePlus 7 pro has no ToF depth sensor. However, the leaks and the rumors clearly mentioned the setup with one main wide camera lens, one ultra-wide camera lens, and one telephoto camera lens.

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a shutter delay of 0.3 seconds or less, which, according to Wired, does not make pixels three times faster. Auto HDR adjusts better than previous OnePlus devices, with a more natural look and less compressed mid-tones. Even when HDR is activated, the 7 Pro maintains true color temperature and tone fidelity.

Liu said that compared to last year, the portrait mode is “more natural”, and the bokeh effect is closer to the effect you get from a professional lens, rather than artificial as before. Theme isolation and progressive blur are also better than OnePlus 6T.

Like the 7 Pro’s entire camera setup, the zoom lens focuses on retaining fine detail and displaying information in the shadows instead of eliminating all noise. Therefore, if you look closely, you will find noise even in daylight images.

The main sensor on the back outputs a 12 MP pixel binned image, at least on this prototype there is no option to create a photo with full 48 MP resolution. Downsampling is mainly used to reduce noise, but it is still not as good as Huawei’s algorithm.

Night mode is now called Nightscape and has been improved compared to useless iterations in OnePlus 6T. Maybe better optics can help. Another benefit is that it is only slightly slower than the normal auto mode.

The 7 Pro output of the magnifying lens has a different texture quality than the main camera, but the difference in hue between the focal lengths is smaller than the hue difference you get from the P30 Pro. Overall, the photos of OnePlus 7 Pro look more natural and less processed than their predecessors’ photos.

All of this sounds interesting, but we obviously can’t wait to make the OnePlus 7 Pro take a selfie.

The price of the device is still the question remains to be answered. Hopefully, we’ll find that out on May 14th.
