Samsung continues to lead the smartphone market, Xiaomi aims for second place, and Huawei dropped out of the TOP 5

The company Strategy Analytics conducted a study, calculated global smartphone shipments for the first quarter of 2021 and named the five most popular manufacturers for this period.

Who is in the top?

First of all, the smartphone market showed the highest growth since 2015: in total, 340 million units were sold in the first quarter, which is 24% more than in the same period last year.

The largest supplier is still Samsung, which managed to sell 77 million gadgets. By the way, the company managed to improve its indicator by 32% compared to the first quarter of 2020. As a result, its market share was 23%.

In second place with 17% and 58 million units sold is Apple. Xiaomi is breathing down its back: the Chinese company has sold 49 million smartphones, improving its figure by an impressive 80%!

OPPO (without Realme and OnePlus) gained 11% of the market and remained the fourth-largest smartphone supplier in the first quarter. In fifth place is Vivo with 37 million and 11% of the market.

Global Smartphone Shipment

As you can see, there is no Huawei in the TOP 5, which previously took the “prize” places and sought to take the throne of the leader. US sanctions have hit its sales hard, so the figures continue to fall.
