The device will have two hinges to hold its three display pieces, according to a report from LetsGoDigital. It implies that one side of the phone may be folded forward and the other backward to make a Z-shape.
Samsung Galaxy Dual Fold, Dual foldable phone with S Pen Holder.
Samsung introduced this double folding concept, named the “S-Foldable,” in the run-up to the 2021 Society for Information Display event (SID). The screen was 7.2 inches in length, precisely the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s.
Also, there is documentation for some of Samsung’s renowned S Pen technology. Samsung Electronics submitted a patent for this double foldable and its S Pen with the World Intellectual Property Office in July 2021. This patent has now been published in its entirety, including 66 pages of documentation.
When the smartphone is folded, it resembles the appearance of a conventional phone, but it is significantly thicker, according to the documentation. The front display will be formed by the right-sided display when it is unfolded, and the rear of this display will feature a connected slot for the S Pen.
The S Pen will be magnetically kept in place while charging, ensuring that it is in the correct position.
Samsung has also been issued a patent for a slideable smartphone, however, nothing is known about it. It’s also unclear whether the dual-folding technology will be employed in the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which is expected to arrive in August 2022.
While this may increase the prices of existing high-priced foldable like the Z Fold 3, it may also turn out to be a one-of-a-kind expensive flagship product.
