Cowan’s report also mentions display prices, and here Apple pays a little more than Huawei. The S10 + display costs $ 125, the iPhone display costs $ 120, and the P30 Pro display costs $ 110. It is also worth noting that both Apple competitors have relatively new devices, while the iPhone XS is an older competitor that gave Huawei and Samsung time to learn from its competitors.

While this is not a competitive area, it is believed that the processing capabilities of each are also worthy of monitoring: the A12 Bionic uses a hex-core design, while the Samsung and Huawei versions are based on an octa-core and have built-in LTE modems. “We believe the addition and innovation of AI accelerator cores or ‘neural engines’ as part of the GPU core design is of a greater focus”, – stated in the note.

Cowan warns that Huawei’s 4G development experience and even Samsung’s experience over the past few years could help two companies deliver Apple in the near future in 2019 with the introduction of 5G cellular services. Apple is expected to launch an iPhone with 5G support in 2019, which could give its competitors a significant advantage in terms of connectivity.

It’s unclear whether Apple will retain its overall leadership in the long run, as Cowan suggests “With peers focusing on superior display and camera quality, we believe it is too early to tell if catering to social media power users will lead to further iPhone sales declines.”

Although a breakdown of the Cowen specification shows that there is a comparative cost between the three models, it is worth remembering that the Samsung Galaxy S10 + and Huawei P30 Pro are relatively new devices, while the iPhone XS was released last September.

Both Samsung and Huawei had the opportunity to learn what they need to change in their flagship models so that they can compete with the latest iPhones before launching them.
