Sony warns that the PlayStation 5 will not be easy to buy in 2022

Back in February, it was reported that the situation with the shortage of PlayStation 5 game consoles will improve in the second half of 2021. But now it turns out that this is definitely not worth waiting for.

What’s next?

Sony chief financial Officer Hiroki Totoki after the announcement of the results of the fiscal quarter said that the PlayStation 5 will still be in short supply even in 2022. Even despite the increased supply.

“I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand,” said Hiroki Totoki.

Recall that today the demand significantly exceeds the supply, and Sony can not produce consoles in sufficient quantities. The company, like many other manufacturers, has faced a global shortage of semiconductor products.

Sony is confident that the normalization of the epidemiological situation is unlikely to affect the popularity of the game console, and plans to sell at least 14.8 million gadgets in the current fiscal year.

“We have sold more than 100 million units of the PlayStation 4 and considering our market share and reputation, I can’t imagine demand dropping easily,” — summed up the CFO of Sony.
