The first results of the iPad Pro benchmarks on the M1: the new tablet is more powerful than the 16-inch MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i9 chip

A few weeks after the announcement of the new iPad Pro, the first results of the device’s performance tests appeared in the Geekbench database.

What is known?

So, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro model scores 1719 points in the single — core test, and 7326 points in the multi-core test. For comparison, the same amount is given out by the latest MacBook Air. And this is not surprising, because both devices run on the same Apple M1 processor.

When compared with the fourth-generation iPad Pro on the A12X chip, the performance of the new model has increased by about 56%. In addition, the iPad Pro 2021 in Geekbench even bypasses the 16-inch MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i9 processor. The laptop gives 1091 and 6845 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

Recall that the updated iPad Pro boasts not only a proprietary M1 processor, but also a Liquid Retina XDR display with mini-LED, a built-in 5G modem and Thunderbolt support.
