Tumblr can be sold once more, and Pornhub wants to buy

Pornhub wants to buy Tumblr: Tumblr never got much attention from Yahoo, which bought the blogging service in 2013 for $ 1.1 billion.

And when the code-hijacking company was bought by Verizon operator in 2016, it looks like Tumblr got even more on the flies.

Well, maybe the service can have a more promising fate in the hands of another company: Pornhub.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Verizon began looking for potential buyers for Tumblr after failing to meet its billing targets.

The process is still in progress, according to vehicle sources, and can result in no transaction. The operator does not officially comment on the case.

Today, Tumblr hosts 465 million blogs, which posted 172 billion posts. There has been a significant drop in the audience in recent months: as TechCrunch notes, based on SensorTower data, the Tumblr app has the lowest number of users since the end of 2013. Compared with the first quarter of 2018, of people using the app plunged 40% in a year.

And why does Tumblr go badly on legs? Much of the fall in traffic has to do with a change in the rules: in December 2018, the service went on to ban adult content – which represented a relevant portion of Tumblr’s posts, although there is no official data on it.

Existing pornographic content was taken off the air; and the new ones were hidden by default, with the help of an artificial intelligence algorithm.

On Thursday, after rumor of that the Pornhub wants to buy Tumblr, Pornhub told BuzzFeed that he is “extremely interested” in acquiring the service.

Pornhub vice president Corey Price says Tumblr was a “safe haven for those who wanted to explore and express their sexuality, including adult entertainment aficionados.” If the transaction is done, Pornhub, of course, wants to restore the NSFW posts.
