It could have the best selfie camera of the industry that has seen in recent years excpet the phone that’s main camera is used for the shot. However, this is middle class. The vivo V21, V21 5G, and V21e are now available. Apart from network connectivity, the first two models are almost identical; the e edition adds a Snapdragon chipset and a few other features.
The front-facing camera on the V21 and V21 5G is 44MP. We haven’t seen this kind of OIS in years. It also has electronic image stabilization (EIS) for extra smoothness in handheld videos, which can be shot in 4K resolution.
The front camera is concealed inside a notch. Additionally, it features an AI Night Portrait mode as well as two embedded LEDs in the top frame with autofcus feature that many flagships lack.
The V21e has a 44MP auto focused selfie camera as well, but the OIS system has disappeared, however ,there is electronic stabilization. Even the Dual LED flash is absent, but the Night Portrait and Super Selfie modes are present.
There are three cameras on each of the three models with the same arrangement on the rear. It begins with a 64MP main camera that features optical image stabilization (OIS). When it comes to vlogs, the front and the rear cameras can be used concurrently. An 8 MP ultra wide-angle camera and a 2 MP macro module accompany the main camera.
The three V21 models are all very thin, with one becoming vivo’s thinnest 5G phone to date. It’s worth noting that the backs of the various colorways have subtly different finishes as well as thicknesses and weights.
Regardless on the direction you see it, you’ll look at either 2.5cm or 2.58mm. Of course there’s a camera bump on the rear, but the amazing thing is that this setup fits into an OIS front camera and fortunately there’s no selfie camera bump.
Returning to the front, It has a 6.44 “AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The display has a 1080p+ resolution (20:9) and is built from Samsung’s older E3 emissive material. HDR10+ is supported by the V21 and V21 5G models, while HDR10 is supported by the V21e model.
The e model also has a dimmer display, with a typical brightness of 430 nits and 500 nits for the other two. A fingerprint reader is integrated into the touchscreen on all three.
The Dimensity 800U, a 7nm chip with two Cortex-A76 cores (2.4GHz) plus six A55 cores (2.0GHz) and a Mali-G57 MC3 GPU, powers both the vivo V21 and V21 5G. The 4G model would be slower, however the 5G model will deliver the download speed of up to 2.3 Gbps.
The vivo V21e features a Snapdragon 720G chipset, two Cortex-A76 2.3GHz cores, and six Cortex-A55 cores, together with an Adreno 618 mobile GPU and an X15 LTE modem. Anyway, you get the RAM of 8GB and the storage of 128GB. Its Extended RAM mode claims to give the machine the illusion of having 3 additional gigabytes of RAM.
All three devices feature 4,000 mAh batteries that can be quickly charged with support for 33W FlashCharge.
Sunset Dazzle, Dusk Blue, and Arctic White are three of the vivo V21 and V21 5G’s colors that will be available soon. Diamond Flare and Roman Black are available on the vivo V21e.
The vivo V21 and V21e are available for pre-order in Malaysia today, and will be available on May 5 for MYR 1,600 and MYR 1,200, respectively. Malaysia would not get the V21 5G.
