Last week, an insider reported that Xiaomi is working on a new version of the Redmi Note 8 smartphone. Now the manufacturer has officially confirmed the existence of the device.

The company published a post on Twitter, according to which more than 25 million units of Redmi Note 8 smartphones were sold worldwide. In honor of this event, Xiaomi decided to release a new version of the device with the prefix 2021 in the name. The device should be announced in the near future.

Recall that the Redmi Note 8 (2021) passes with the code name Biloba. The main difference of the smartphone will be the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665.
In addition, the novelty is also credited with an IPS display with a teardrop-shaped cutout and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a quad camera with a 48 MP main sensor, as well as a 4000 mAh battery with 22.5 W fast charging. The smartphone should enter the market in two versions of memory and with a pre-installed proprietary shell MIUI 12.5. How much will be asked for the device is unknown.
