Xiaomi excluded from the blacklist: Xiaomi managed to do what Huawei could not: The US authorities agreed to exclude Xiaomi from the “blacklist”

In January of this year, the US government included Xiaomi and 8 other Chinese companies in the sanctions list. However, the measures were not as tough as in the case of Huawei: Americans were simply forbidden to invest in these companies, while Xiaomi was left with the opportunity to buy American components and use technology in production. But it took less than six months — and the Chinese manufacturer managed to restore its honest name.

What does it mean?

Xiaomi after getting into the “blacklist” went to court. In March, the court temporarily suspended the ban, and now the company has managed to leave the sanctions list altogether.

This is reported by Bloomberg, citing court documents. It seems that the parties managed to settle the dispute peacefully and come to a common solution. The publication notes that the parties agreed on further actions that will allow resolving this dispute without the need for the contested process.” This means that the US Department of Defense is ready to lift the imposed bans.

However, it is still unclear on what terms Xiaomi and the US government went to the world and whether all restrictive measures will be canceled without exception. It is reported that the parties are now continuing negotiations and will submit a separate joint proposal to the court by May 20.
