The network has repeatedly reported that the first Redmi gaming smartphone will not receive a Qualcomm processor. Xiaomi has now officially confirmed this.
What is known?
According to the company’s teaser on Weibo, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will run on a MediaTek Dimension 1200 chip. This is a new SoC that was introduced at the beginning of the year.
It is built on the 6-nanometer TSMC process technology and has eight cores: three Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.6 GHz, one Cortex-A78 core with a frequency of 3.0 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz.
By the way, only one smartphone currently works on this chip — the Realme GT Neo. In terms of power, the MediaTek Dimension 1200 is comparable to the Snapdragon 870 chip.
Recall that the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is also credited with Samsung’s AMOLED display with a picture refresh rate of 144 Hz and a hole for the front camera, a 5000 mAh battery with fast 67-watt charging, as well as special buttons for games and a backlight on the back of the case.
Price and when to expect?
The presentation of the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will take place in China on April 27. For the device will ask about 300-380 US dollars.
